Pure Indulgence...

(please click images to enlarge)

Soooo If I could have one really big indulgence in life it would have to be my very own bathing/dressing room and it would look just like the one above.

As we all know bathing is actually an art form and a moment in time that should never be rushed. Bathing and dressing for less than an hour is a sin. It's a time, whether you're a busy career woman or housewife for you to unwind and forget about the stresses of the day.

From the book Comfortable Country - Having a bath is a superbly comfortable way of slowing down. Bathing is not simply to do with getting clean; a shower can do that. The ritual of running the water, adding a swoosh of scented salts or a glug of luxurious oil, then sliding down for a long soak, makes having a bath a ceremony.

For true connoisseurs of bathing you must begin with a truly spectacular bath. Something so alluring you can't bare to be away from it. My favourite is this stunning stone bath or even a copper or claw foot.

The iron or glass table is a sweet addition for your scented candles, oils and perhaps a glass of wine :)

A simple chandelier is a must as well as some beautiful hooks or a dressing screen for a robe

I believe the picture above is the same room as the first, styled differently.

Again, this is the same room but you can see it's actually a whole bedroom. My bathing/dressing room would be seperate from my bedroom for complete privacy and no disruptions.

I do love the idea of the bathtub at a window. If bathing while the sun is still up, soaking while letting your thoughts drift outside is pure bliss.

The above pic is my father and step mothers guest bathroom in their home in the southern highlands. The relaxing view outside that window is absolutely stunning.

I imagine these beautiful etched doors would lead me from my bedroom to my bathing room with a white sheer curtain pulled across once inside.

I would have a big white fluffy rug to soften and pamper my feet with the luxurious texture.

I'm also thinking a fireplace of some sort is quite essential.

Once your bathing is done it's time for dressing. I would have a large antique armoire in the room filled with fluffy white towels. It also makes perfect storage for your candles, oils and salts supplies.

Finally, no bathing/dressing room would be complete without a stunning girly vanity. Mine would look similar to this with a skirt, tufted chair or stool, marble top, venetian mirror, sconces and an abundance of perfumes and lotions, powders and a little makeup.

*sigh*

thank you for allowing me to dream a while ;)

Topping of this modern architectural design is an enclosed roof top loft and open terrace with city skyline views. German Furniture Manufacturer Collections Design

Huelsta German furniture manufacturer have collections design decorating ideas for a living room.
The living room is one of the most important spaces in your house. It is the traffic hub of life, the place where everyone comes together, friends, and family, to congregate and enjoy the pleasure of one another’s company. It is also the most visible space in the house, and the room that is most likely to be viewed by guests visiting for the first time. For these reasons and more you should endeavor to make this as attractive and comfortable as you possibly can.

The most important part of creating a living room with several different sitting areas and sections is the keep the warmth and friendly atmosphere of the room. You want to be careful not to separate the room too much so people cannot socialize with each other but you want to create a sense of seclusion as well. Although this is a fine line it can be an amazing success when the final touches are completed.

Minimalist House Design in Sydney Australia

In Sydney Australia, Tobias partners have design minimalist house “The Parsley”. Information by architects: The house adopts a solid masonry form. Floor and roof slabs extend to the perimeter of the building, capping the cube like forms. Fenestration is expressed as full height voids in walls, as bespoke steel framed windows span vertically between the expressed concrete slabs. Cool concrete floors, and benchtops sit alongside teak cabinetry and custom-made bronze ironmongery.
The clients brief was that the new house should be bold and architecturally strong, yet also comfortable and inviting. The house should have spaces suited to entertaining, offering easy flow from inside to out. Additionally the clients wanted to retain a traditional garden, with a sizeable lawn and flowerbeds alongside a 10m pool and spa.

Every detail in the house was painstakingly resolved, from bronze integrated door handles, screens and handrails, to fine steel angle door stops and window frames. No junction of elements was left to chance, with careful consideration given to how all such elements would meet or juxtapose.

Steel and Glass House on Seattle

This Steel and Glass House on Seattle, Washington’s Mercer Island utilizes the elemental natures of concrete, steel and glass to create a family refuge. Two concrete structures, which house the garage, mudroom, and a play area, present themselves to the street. Between them runs an exposed steel bridge which leads over a private courtyard and into the main house. A bent plate steel staircase descends into an open plan, double-height living space, which is dominated by an immense concrete fireplace and chimney (in the living room) and a massive black granite-covered island (in the kitchen). Floor to ceiling windows provide unimpeded views of the water from the courtyard or inside the house.

Scenography Apartment in Bucharest Romania

Scenography Apartment in Bucharest Romania
AA studio architects recently project interior design for the Scenography Apartment in Bucharest, Romania.

Beside choosing interesting objects and placing them in harmony with the surroundings, an interior design implies re- thinking the whole space, resulting a concept that satisfies the client’s needs and requests and also who reflects the ingenuity and talent of the architects. It looks simple, but most of the so called interior designs don’t manage to exceed the first step, they simply stay at the stage of choosing from catalogues products more or less luxurious.

But also there are architects who understood really well their role in this craft, and they take full responsibility.

We present you a generous space, of almost 400 sqm , who resulted from uniting 2 apartments placed in mirror. The fusion-transformation , from which resulted a spectacular place , who lives from and through light , took place in less than a year thanks to the good communication and relationship with the owner. Starting from the wishes of the client, expressed very clearly: a spacious apartment , aerated ,luminous, simple and confortable, the designer team managed this challenge approaching the space at an un-usual scale.

The two initial spaces, each with all the functions (living room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, bathrooms and technical space), but placed in mirror, are next to a park/ green space, so the architects took advantage of this, making the perception of the outside space to be dynamic, not fragmented visually. So, the new apartment relates very well with the outdoor through many windows, but also it can close it self enjoying the numerous lighting systems creating special atmospheres.

Regarding the functional distribution of the spaces, the architects came up with a simple solution: the day area placed in one apartment, and the night spaces in the other apartment, united by the fitness room. The spaces created are: master bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, shower bath, and secondary bathroom, living room, dinning room, kitchen, 2 guests bathroom, and a guest bedroom. All these spaces are united by the furniture design and the lighting. The large dimensions of the spaces permitted a ‘rescale’ , resulting a custom furniture project made by the architects. The furniture pieces are simple with ferm lines, square angles, but their scale and the way they interact with the generous space makes them very elegant and majesticly. The most spectacular piece of furniture has to be the bed, a floating slab, a purple spot in a big white space that has as a benchmark the big plasma tv and the bonsai.

Like in a spectacle, the designers took a special care of the way that the lighting transforms and recomposes the spaces. In one hand, the natural light comes in the apartment directly or filtered by curtains and draperyes ,who have scenographic roles, and on the other hand, there are a lot of artificial lighting systems who are playing with colours, shadows and shades. One of the owner’s wish was that the place shouldn’t be a static one, so that the space could re-invent itself continuosly, and the solution were the RGB lighting systems. Combined with the different white surfaces and the curtains that define or close some spaces, the lighting makes the space very versatile . To achieve their goal, the architects chose lighting pieces of the best quality, with a clean design, almost minimalist: RZB Flat Polymero , Viabizzuno C1 incasso and Viabizzuno Dodo for the ceilings and walls in the living room. Viabizzuno C1 for the bedroom and Ducre Face Long,Delta Light – Connect and Ducre Flat for the bathrooms. The master bathroom offers an impressive spectacle of textures, lighting and mirrors, being one of the climaxes of the apartment. [via]
